Some of the popular tourist spots of the world are as follows:
Iglesia de la Cathedral: Founded in the year 1572, this cathedral is located near the Palacio del Gobierno. This is one of the most popular tourist spots in Quito. It holds regular morning mass and is usually attended by the locals.
Convento y Museo de San Francisco: This center is open on Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and on Sunday it is open from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. It remains closed for the rest of the days in the week. |

It is important as Quito's largest catholic religious center. It has a rich store of religious art belonging to the colonial period. A part of the center is occupied by monks. Admission fees is $1 per person.
Agua y Montana: This is a very popular sports complex situated just 30 minutes away from the city center. It is open only on weekends from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm. It is the best amongst the tourist spots in Quito to spend a relaxed weekend. It has large stretches of open fields and a thermal spring. This is also a good place for people interested in sports. It has a large golf course and several other sporting facilities.
La Mitad del Mundo: In the La Mitad del Mundo you can boast of being in the middle of the earth, as the Equator pases through it. In fact, it is interesting to note that the name La Mitad del Mundo means 'middle of the world.' Few of the attractions here include a bullfighting ring, ethnographic museum, handicraft stores, art gallery and a cockpit.
